1 Timothy

I are creeped out right now... can't decide whether or not to blog it.... maybe later.

Something from devo (1 Timothy):
I have a lot of thoughts when I read the bible but I'll just share the most impactful 3 points.

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. - 1 Timothy 1:5
Does your love for others consist of these three elements? Can I truly say I am pure in heart, good in conscience, and sincere in faith? I cannot say with complete honesty nor confidently that I am always pure hearted, always good in conscience, always sincere in faith because I know I am not perfect. I, most certainly, fall short of at least one of these at times but it's something to strive for. I'm really not as pure or innocent as some people think (at least not to that extent). This reminds me of a 'theme of the year' I saw at a church I visited: "focusing upward, reflecting inward, moving forward." I really like it and I try to keep it in mind. Without focus we're not just in chaos, we ARE chaos. And where your focus is, there your life will go. So where is yours heading? Constant reflection is important too. How else do we know if we're on track or how far we've gone? Perhaps you look back and you realize the reason for a past occurrence or even present; life seems more clear. As for moving forward, it's not like you have a choice. Life moves forward regardless if you're in sync or not. Whether it's your focus, your introspection or your moving forward, are you pure in heart? good in conscience? sincere in faith?
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. - 1 Timothy 3:2-3
Haha I really don't know why I'm sharing this but... when I read this part, this is like the first time I've thought about the idea of me dating/marrying one day. I don't like to ponder in this area because I really don't think "I" should be the one looking, God has His plans right. I think this is something 'I would' look for though. Someone who shares the same faith as me, a leader with all of the outlined traits.
... pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. - 1 Timothy 6:12
FIGHT the good fight of faith reminds me of a certain someone that lately likes to say FIGHTING! a lot. :] But yes, living a life of faith is not easy. It's hard enough just getting by day to day, right? That's called surviving now to actually live and to live a life of faith. So incredibly hard... which is why you establish pillars of support and equip yourselves well so that it can be possible.

  1. I agree with you when you said that you shouldn't be the one looking for it. It will hit you when you least expect it. Personal experience.
