Anyway, here's a snippet of a conclusion I gave for Coffee House December 2009 (I believe the theme was somewhere along the lines of leaving the past behind:
How many of you are stuck in your past memories? Be it depressing or happy. Perhaps a funeral, a broken relationship, an amazing trip, a party of some sort? Well you know what? (someone say what) The clock is ticking by the second. There’s a world of possibilities but only one reality. Every step we don’t take is a mystery but every step we do take is history. “Every choice that you are making, every step that you are taking, every chain that you are breaking, history is in the making,” whether it is textbook worthy or diary worthy. A new beginning is given to us every day; that’s why today is known as ‘present’ (cheesy, I know but hey it’s me, don’t expect anything else). Sometimes we take this ‘gift’ for granted and I say ‘gift’ because it’s a privilege. Did you earn today? No. Do you deserve today? Perhaps… Let’s face it; it’s hard to make use of every day. We have our grudges, our pains, our stresses, our distractions, our commitments/ responsibilities, and our daydreams. Who can say they don’t? Stand up if you think you don’t. I’ll personally congratulate you and say “welcome to earth, let me show you around.” If we don’t let go of our past, our hallucinations, our fantasies, how can we experience all of what today has to offer? Especially when God only offers the best. So start living for today rather than for tomorrow, or living in yesterday. What will be your legacy? You have one chance to write your story so what’s it going to be? Note how I said ‘write’ your story not ‘speak’ your story. Show the world who you are because there is no one else like you in this world, never was, and never will be.
