On my way to school Friday, I saw a Honda Prelude and the license plate caught my attention: CIVIC B. Didn't make sense to me... Then, I saw kids from the child care centre next to my school in search of a mail box. The teacher was asking "Is this a mailbox?", pointed to a blue bin. The kids, in unison, replied yes; it made me smile. I spent all of today doing chores and watching econ lectures and doing devo.
For the past few days, there's a question that's bothering me. If my parents weren't Christian and disapproved with me going to church (for like Sunday worship or Friday night fellowship), what should I do? Would it be considered 'dishonouring' my parents if I go to church regardless of their disapproval? On many occasions, I've been stuck on issues of whether I should go ahead with things my parents disapprove of but not this specific case. God would never tell us to do something contrary to His Word. I still question whether it is right for me to do things in secret from my parents even if they're not 'bad' things. Anyway, back to my initial scenario... If you think about it from the parents side, it's a tendency to be doing something 'bad' when kids go ahead and do things regardless of parental approval (I'm sure your imagination or experiences are sufficient without my expansion). They may come to associate the church as something 'bad' because of this tendency.
I'm not saying this is THE way to go, but in this situation I think I would invite a few Christian friends over sometime during the week for a mini worship session right at home. Think about it. Sunday worship isn't a command from God, it's a tradition. The day of the week or time of day or location doesn't matter. After all, worship is a lifesytle. However, God did command us to come together as ONE family to bring praise and thanksgiving and offering to God, also to spur each other on. Sermons are secondary, it's another tradition. I'm not saying it's insignificant; I think sermons are good refreshers and one of the ways God uses to speak to you. You can incorporate an online sermon in the mini worship. Similar to Sunday worship, it doesn't matter the time or place to have worship. In fact, it is generally throughout the week and not during that 'fellowship' time slot that you truely have fellowship time. If anyone ever judges your spiritual life based on your church attendance, tell them to come find me. I'm not giving you reasons to slack off and not attend church altogether. Eventually, it all goes back to the heart. God knows when you're just being lazy or skipping fellowship for parties or avoiding a certain someone or you just really can't go... God knows.
Dude, lately I feel pretty lonely. I didn't really think about it much so I didn't realize why 'til now. I think it's cause I've been off facebook and msn for the past few weeks. That's pretty pathetic if I become a loner just because I'm not using facebook or msn. Reminds me of older times, before I used either haha that's essentially what I'm feeling now... well I technically was a loner. I didn't really talk to anyone outside of school times or even during for that matter, didn't really want to and I didn't really talk to family either (still stands). Hmm... fascinating, tells me something. 1) Gotta work on family and 2) Gotta work on other means of communication. I'm not even gonna go into how hard the first one is. The second one, I never seem to have the time or a mutually available time. Makes me feel cruddy of how I multi-task all the time. I left multiple conversation windows open with many more other program windows. I give people my focused attention when it comes to deep talks but still.
