servant leadership and coptic church in egypt

During the sermon today, I really reflected upon whether my 'leading' is concurring with servant leadership. I really like that analysis: "church has no leaders, only servants."  Then the pastor goes on to saying how there are three types of leadership in the Old Testament: 1. prophets (teaching) 2. kings (administration- accomplishing tasks alongside others, delegation) 3. priests (care/pastoring). A servant leader should develop in all three areas. Most certainly humility/humbleness is a huge part to this form of leadership. Let me know, I can take criticism. I think I'm a little bit conceited and prideful sometimes yet no one approaches me about it so then God disciplines me Himself... I'm sure you guys wouldn't be so hard on me :] I'll be sure to listen.
In Sunday School today, we were shown a video about the Coptic Church in one of the poorest town Egypt. I do have some thoughts on it and it made me cry but I don't know why I couldn't bring myself to sharing it in class. You're probably thinking, isn't this worse cause it's a public blog? I don't know. Anyway... at the beginning, it felt like the people who lived in 'garbage city' just accepted their way of life. Accepted that they'll always live there, their next generation will live there and let that depressing cycle keep on spiraling downwards. A few specific people came to mind and groups of people too. Labelled by society and just accepted their circumstances, even accepted the thinking that "it's too late for me." Not only does the actual person think like this but other people including 'Christians' think "it's too late for them." That makes me just plain sad. There is never a time that is too late  for anyone and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Then the video moves on to showing a Father (so like a priest/pastor figure) reaching out to these people who live among garbage and kiss their hand, forehead, and hug them. Telling them about God's love and testifying with his life of obedience, very admirable indeed. This lead to an amazing transformation of the lives of these people. Their faith in God allowed them to take a new perspective on their circumstance. Yes, they still live among garbage but they have an organized system of recycling and decomposing the junk they gather from capital city. They miraculously found a cave to build a place of worship. They are devoted. They love each other. They linked together a human chain to protect Muslims praying during the chaotic uproar in Egypt last month. I'm sure people previously thought "it's too late for me/them".

I feel this urge to add that I HATE how I have accounting midterm on a friday evening 7-9pm then a calc midterm the morning after 9-11am!!! T_T They want us to fail.
