My final exams start this week through this month 'til the 28th. Yeah, don't think I'll be blogging much, haven't blogged much lately either :\ but I do have a lot of thoughts swirling around. For instance, for the past few days
Purpose Driven Life has been talking about "SHAPE" (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, Experience). I don't think I understand my capabilities. What capabilities do you think I have? In Sunday School, we finished watching a movie about Mother Teresa. She exemplifies to it's fullest extent what it means to be a godly woman. Even in her old age, she was beautiful, her actions were graceful, her heart shone brighter than any star, her humility and compassion went beyond reason... that is what I call surrender. It's not a one time thing, she did it every day, surrender to Jesus. She followed every step of the way with the faith of a child yet maturity of an adult, trusting that she is in God's hand and He will provide accordingly.
I'd have to say I'm getting the jitters for exam time. I'm not confident, at all, not even a hint of arrogance. I got stuck on several question when doing the past exams and I'm just having mental blockade... time during exam time is precious but I felt God telling me to take a long time out. "Go flip through the Bible and write down a lot of verses on sticky notes and stick them EVERYWHERE. When you are weak then you are strong." I couldn't refuse. So there's a dozen or two sticky notes EVERYWHERE: on doors (in my room, bathroom, guest room, garage entrance), on bathroom mirror, on bed shelf, on desk, on mini-system, on the fridge, in the car, on the alarm system, on the piano, on my laptops... EVERYWHERE. That took a while but yeah.
For today's
Purpose Driven Life, it outlines what it means to be a real servant:
- make themselves available to serveI question how available I am to act on every one of God's calling to serve. I try my best to 'do what's needed even when it's inconvenient' but it still doesn't feel right.
- pay attention to needs
- do every task with equal dedicationI really can't say I do EVERY task with ALL my heart oO I guess I need to work on that
- do their best with what they have
- faithful to their ministry
- maintain a low profileI'm starting to question whether I'm keeping a low profile. I was about to say low 'enough' profile... that already speaks of how humble I really am. There isn't really a low 'enough' if anything the lowest I can make it is low 'enough'.
Everyone can be more of a servant. John Wesley once said "Do all the good
you can, by all the means
you can, in all the ways
you can, in all the places
you can, at all the times
you can, to all the people
you can, as long as
you ever can." That my friends is a good quote to strive to live by. All Christians have a verse in the Bible that is dearest to them; mine is Proverbs 3:27 "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in
your power to act." Doesn't that sounds familiar? John Wesley's statement emphasizes this verse so well. All the '
you can' from Wesley is equivalent to '
your power to act' in the Bible.
