LENT day 2

Day 2: You Are Not an Accident
  • You are not an accident... It is not fate, nor chance, nor luck, nor coincidence that you are breathing at this very moment.... God prescribed every single detail of your body. He deliberately chose your race, the colour of your skin, your hair, and every other feature. He custom-made your body just the way he wanted it. He also determined the natural talents you would possess and the uniqueness of your personality... Nothing in your life is arbitrary.
  • Many children are unplanned by their parents, but they are not unplanned by God. God's  purpose took into account human error, and even sin. God never does anything accidentally, and he never makes mistakes. He has a reason for everything he creates.
  • [A poem by Russell Kelfer]:
You are who you are for a reason
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
    Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
    And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heartSo that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason, You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
    Because there is a God!.
Since there's a reason for who you are, there's also a reason for who you meet. Whether your role is small or big in someone else's life, once you walk in, you can never walk out. People can physically walk out of your life but memories of them and feelings toward them don't leave... because these memories, these feelings are YOURS; this life is yours.
I've come to realize that my life is a very poor example of Christian living. What have I been doing in class for all of first year? Facebook, MSN, games.... multi-tasking in general. Is this called hard working? You may think, a lot of people do this, so what? Bible tells us to work at everything as if not for men but for God. This is definitely not how I would work at something for God. Then, there's family life... it is absolutely unimaginable to be close with anyone from my family. Don't even talk about being close, I'm not even fully honest with them. There's this friend that is really really REALLY honest and close to her mother and sister. She's not Christian and she's not from a divorced family... she calls her mom every day when she gets to school. I don't think I can even bring myself to saying I truly LOVE my family, care for yes but love? I no longer hate them... This just makes me think. As for sleep, I keep waking up at intervals (fully conscious), sometimes I have nightmares, yeah.
Another song obsession, "7 x 70" by Chris August. I really like the lyrics and I can see myself saying these words (not the entire song):
7 times 70 times
I’ll do what it takes to make it right
I thought the pain was here to stay
But forgiveness made a way

7 times 70 times
There’s healing in the air tonight
I’m reaching up to pull it down
Gonna wrap it all around

I lost count of the ways you let me down
But no matter how many times you weren’t around
I’m alright now

God picked up my heart and helped me through
And shined a light on the one thing left to do
And that’s forgive you
I forgive you

7 times 70 times
If that’s the cost I’ll pay the price

P.S. Any prayer requests? I'm spending even more time with God now that I'm on my LENT. Let me know.
