2 Peter

Just had mando class this morning (not official classes) and man, new found respect for Chinese! well languages in general. Slightest difference in pronounciation and it's a whole different meaning...
Oh WOW -.-' The whole time I was studying at the library my messenger didn't work and it works the first time around when I get home.
Working hard for midterms! Would appreciate prayers for all post-secondary students.

Something from devo (2 Peter 1-5):
I just noticed, Peter likes to start with grace and peace be yours in abundance... hmm... interesting.

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness... make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. - 2 Peter 1:3, 5-7
Take note of first line and the order of traits.
... the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. - 2 Peter 2:9 (take the time to read v.4-8)
How is God just when there are so many innocent people in jail? How is God just when there are so many good people dying? How is God just when you look at genocides (Halocaust, Rwandan genocide, etc.)? How is God just when he allows natural disasters to wipe on countless people? How is God just when ________? I have no answer. I do not know what justice is and I am not the Judge. There are mistrials because of insufficient evidence. There are dissolution of juries because of biases. There are wrongful convictions because there appears to be sufficient evidence and solid witnesses. There are lighter penalties because the court takes into account negligence, self-defense, etc. God knows each and every detail. He has all the evidence. He will bring justice when the time comes.
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:8-9
I'm such an impatient person like everyone else I want to be in control; I want things to happen in 'my' time. Typically speaking, Hong Kong people always say how Canadians are SLOW. For the most part, I'd have to agree but it's relative. haha another example that came to mind would be speed limits. The speed limit says "maximum 60km/h" and you're behind a car that is going EXACTLY 60... you're probably pissed at that car for being so SLOW. But hey, isn't that the 'maximum'? And then you speed away going 70 or 80, that's how everyone drives now (even cop cars). I've caught myself saying "God, why isn't anything HAPPENING YET" or "God, I know your day is like a thousand years but mine's only 24 hours" :) Not in our time but in His. If you're Christian, have you ever thought to yourself, "man, he/she pisses me off." or "they're beyond saving"? God wants to save everyone. So even if it hurts Him every moment that someone is crying all alone, that the oppressed are without protectors, that the widows and orphans are without comfort, that someone blasphemes His name, that the righteous suffer... murder, adultery, deception, rape, abuse of all sorts, turmoil, chaos, disunity... He will patiently wait. Is your time aligned with His?
